The Community Music School (CMS) was founded by Chromatic Club members as an outgrowth of lessons given by the Welcome Hall Social Settlement. Instruction is offered in piano, keyboard, voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, classical and modern guitar, electric bass, fiddling, jazz improvisation, computer composition, theory, note-reading, sight-singing, music and movement for 6 month-6 year olds, Music Is FUNdamental for 5-8 year olds and both A Bit of Broadway and Surviving Auditions for teens and adults. CMS maintains five satellites, collaborative after-school programs in public schools and community centers, and three concert series. Annual enrollment is now 1,200.
