Personal Statement
It’s simple to me – basics are unavoidable, as in scales, arpeggios, etudes, intervals, etc.. I love working with the student and getting to know their style, and I’ll tailor my style to them a bit, often using humor. But the basics are the foundation, so the student must be ready to do the real work. And as the foundation grows stronger, the student is able to express musical feelings and ideas better. The goal of any good teacher is to make one’s self obsolete and have the player become a peer.
