Personal Statement
Music became a major inspiration in Layla’s life at an early age. She began singing at age five and wrote her first song at the age of seven. As a teenager she took a huge interest in guitar players like Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani. She studied jazz guitar at SIU Edwardsville, IL. Once in college, she discovered players such as Pat Metheny, John Scofield and Wes Montgomery.
She has been playing guitar now for 20 years and teaching for seven years. Layla is a musician who loves to teach and also has years of experience playing live as well as doing recording work.
