Personal Statement
I have taught students from ages 4 to 70, beginner to advanced. I enjoy fostering a lifetime love for music in my students, helping them embrace music as part of their lives.
I hold a Doctoral Degree in Piano Pedagogy from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and a Masters Degree from Towson University, MD. I have taught at the Towson Music Preparatory Division, Carroll Community College, Piano Perspectives School of Music and my own studio while I lived in Maryland for the last 13 years. Several of my students have been prizewinners in the Trinity Guildhall program and Maryland Music Teachers Association’s judged recitals.
In addition to piano teaching, I have been a full-time public school Mathematics teacher for the past 5 years, and was an elementary Music school teacher for the previous 5 years.
I have performed with local orchestras both in Maryland and in my native town, Porto Alegre, Brazil and also presented several solo as well as chamber music recitals in both the United States and Brazil. I have also written and presented lecture-recitals about selected Brazilian composers: Guerra-Peixe, Villa-Lobos, Miranda and Lorenzo Fernandez, these composers also being featured in my final doctoral research paper.
