Personal Statement

In September of 2011, Krista Cala moved to Okinawa, Japan for 5 years. She is busy establishing herself in a new country now. She is accepting violin students for her private studio, and plays frequently for private events and weddings. She has instruction videos on YouTube on the Krista Cala channel.

Krista Cala is an accomplished professional violinist with over 24 years of performing/teaching experience. She specializes in traditional violin instruction, placing emphasis on correct technique and posture using time tested methods and etudes. Her extensive orchestral experience assists her in teaching the vast orchestral repertorie as well. Krista’s students have distinguished themselves in junior and high school All -State competitions, attaining principal and assistant concertmaster positions. Krista’s students have also been successful in other state and local competitions, as well as acceptance to NC Govenor’s School.

In additional to her private studio, Krista teaches private violin lessons at Parrott Academy in Kinston, NC, and serves as an instructor at the Lamar Stringfeld Music Camp each summer. She is an active performer in the Raleigh area, playing with Carolina Ballet, the Opera Company of North Carolina, and Best of Broadway touring shows. For the past 16 years she has been an extra with the North Carolina Symphony, performing in many symphony radio and television broadcasts as well as recording sessions. She is the only violinist teaching in Eastern North Carolina that plays regularly with the North Carolina Symphony.
