Personal Statement

Being from a musical family Rocky has played guitar for over four decades. He has played around the world in concerts, clubs, churches, and studios. Rocky started playing as a child in the early 60’s and played lead guitar in his uncles band at age eleven. Since then, Rocky has played venues from Rock guitarist to church pianist, soloist to orchestra and with several groups opening for or with major acts.

Rocky has played, taught, repaired musical instruments and managed music retail stores from Sylvester & Albany, Georgia to Nashville, TN.. since the 70’s.

Rocky Tees’ first guitar instruction manual was published in 1987. This book was endorsed by several including John Knowles, guitar teacher at Blair School Of Music (Vanderbilt) in Nashville,TN., a published author of Mel Bay. Fred Newell, lead guitarist on TNN’s The Nashville Now show with Ralph Emery.

Rocky Tee has developed a style of picking called Teepickin. He uses a thumbpick and combines fingerpicking, thumbpicking, sweeps and flatpicking. He plays and loves all styles of music. He is acomplished on several string instruments as well as piano/keyboards and vocals.

Rocky is a graduate of electronics and audio. He is an authorized guitar and electronic technician. He teaches, records, and writes music instruction books in his home studios in Nashville,Tennessee and Red Rock,Georgia.

Rocky has worked with such names as Ringo Starr, Edgar Winters, Gary Wright, Colin Haye, Stuart Hamish, Hank Thompson, SmokeDream, Autumn, Jeff Bates, Sherwood, The Worth Brothers, The DuckWorth Brothers and more in production and/or playing.

Rocky currently runs and teaches music classes to youth at SoWeGa Arts and owns Rocky’s Music where he teaches private lessons, repairs and retails musical instruments.
