Personal Statement

Leah Carr has been studying voice for 13 years and piano for 7 years. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Music and Religion from Liberty University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2011. She also earned a certificate in Vocal Performance after completing a week-long Vocal Intensive Program at George Mason University in 2008. While in middle school and high school, she received highest honors in Levels 1 through 6 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Levels 1 through 5 in music theory. An avid learner, Leah continues to take private voice and piano lessons. She also participates in vocal pedagogy seminars, workshops, and certification courses.

Leah has been teaching voice and piano lessons since October 2007. She strives to challenge her students musically while still making music enjoyable, fun, and approachable. She counts it a privilege to be a musical influence in young musicians lives. One of Leahs main teaching goals is not only to teach how to sing and play piano well, but also to cultivate her students musical appreciation. Watching children and adults grow in their love of music is a major motivation for her teaching.
