Icicle Creek’s Chamber Music Institute and Chamber Music Festival combine in a unique educational experience for the serious music student. This is an intensive program of chamber music study set in the Washington Cascade Mountains, emphasizing individual musical development while working closely with faculty artists. Chamber music encourages unparalleled musical growth. It combines personal technical challenges with those associated with ensemble playing, involving all technical and expressive aspects of collaboration. Continuous daily feedback from artist coaches guides ensembles and individuals as they explore the essence of music making from an inside perspective. Located on the Icicle Creek campus adjacent to Sleeping Lady Mountain Retreat in Leavenworth, Washington, the Institute combines the refreshing environment of a beautiful natural setting with internationally acclaimed musicians. The supportive atmosphere and performance opportunities in student ensembles and in collaboration with artist faculty create an immensely productive growth period for young musicians. The Institute is open to college and advanced high school stringed instrument players and pianists by competitive taped or live audition. Special consideration will be given to pre-formed ensembles. The 2007 Institute will be held as a three-week course of study. While attendance for less than the full session may be possible in some cases, preference will be given to students attending all three weeks.
