The School offers both broad-based open enrollment (Colburn School of Performing Arts) and a conservatory standard (Colburn Conservatory of Music). Current enrollment is 1,400. The curriculum includes dance, drama, voice and theory training from early childhood to college levels and individual instruction in all instruments. Highlights include weekly performing opportunities, a Chamber Music Institute, four orchestral levels, comprehensive jazz and choral programs, a college prep program in piano, frequent master classes by leading international artists and an Opera Club. The Colburn School sponsors the Zipper Orchestra and the Musical Encounters and Summer Encounter community outreach programs, which provide free music performances to thousands of children in public elementary schools throughout Los Angeles. The Colburn Conservatory of Music offers a 4-year Bachelor of Music degree, an Artists Diploma, and a Professional Studies Certificate.
