Personal Statement
 
Teodora Dimitrova is a violinist with various performance interests. She has performed solo with several symphony orchestras in Europe, in addition to appearances with the North Carolina Symphony. She has performed numerous solo and chamber recitals in Europe, as well as in the US. Her repertoire covers a wide range of styles, unlimited by classical violin works. She enjoys performing Bulgarian and other Eastern European music, as well as presenting contemporary works to the audience. In 2002 she performed the Bulgarian premiere of �Fledermaus Fantasy� by American composer Judith Shatin and Somei Satoh�s �Birds in Warped Time II�. Teodora played the first Bulgarian concert performance of William Bolcom�s Second Sonata in 2003. In January 2010 Teodora is invited by the Bulgarian Consulate in New York to present her new recital program "Orient Express: from Paris to Istanbul". The project will represent a musical journey from Western to Eastern Europe, featuring composers from France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey.
Teodora also enjoys performing as an orchestral musician. She has been a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra (Switzerland) and Symphony in C (New Jersey) for the past two years, where she has worked with conductors such as Kurt Masur, Valery Gergiev, Charles Dutoit, Paavo J�rvi, among others.
Currently Teodora Dimitrova is on the faculty of Church Street School of Music and Art in Manhattan. Her past pedagogical experience includes: orchestra mentor at the Juilliard School's Pre-Colege division, as well as private students in New York City and New Jersey.
